'Crazy Rich Asians' Tops Box Office Again With Rare 6% Drop in … – ELLE

After a stellar opening weekend, Crazy Rich Asians has won the box office again in its second week, pulling in a strong $25 million. But coming out on top two weekends in a row isn’t the only noticeable feat for the film.
According to Forbes, Crazy Rich Asians experienced a rare drop of just 6% in its second weekend. This puts the novel-turned-move in the exclusive company of 68 other films that have opened to wide release on 2,000 screens and dropped 8% or less in the second weekend.
"Crazy Rich Asians opened on 3,384 theaters last weekend with a strong $26.51 million Fri-Sun weekend and a $35.276m Wed-Sun debut. It expanded slightly to 3,526 theaters this weekend and earned another $25m for the frame. That’s a mere 6% weekend drop," Forbes reports. "When you get right down to it, Crazy Rich Asians took the seventh-smallest second-weekend drop ever for a movie that opened on at least 2,000 screens and didn’t have a holiday cushion in its second Fri-Sun frame."
With the massive success of this film and others like Black Panther, Wonder Woman, and Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, it’s clear that people are watching. Let’s just hope Hollywood is listening.
